A Baptist church at the corner of Colima and East Whittier
Whittier Area Community Church gathers on Colima Road in the East Whittier City area, a congregation that has marked more than five decades in the same neighborhood. The church's 55th anniversary series points to 1971 as a founding milestone. Members and newcomers alike call the campus simply "WACC," a name that shows up on its own app, social handles, and on the livestream channels where Sunday services are broadcast each week.
Three Sunday services, two languages, one livestream habit
WACC holds three Sunday services on a single campus: a contemporary service, a traditional service, and a fully Spanish-language service branded WACC en Español. All three are livestreamed, with a dedicated feed for each style on wacc.tv, wacctraditional.tv, and waccenespanol.tv. The Spanish-language service carries its own YouTube channel, Instagram, and Facebook presence, and giving for it is handled through Pushpay in Spanish.
For those who cannot attend in person, sermons are posted on demand, and the WACC app (available on iOS and Android) keeps a member's household, groups, and giving in one place. Online giving flows through Pushpay, with separate funds for the regular budget, global missions, and the church's Go Serve Love outreach account.
Kids, students, and a full next-generation track
Children's ministry at WACC is split into Early Childhood, Elementary, and a WACC Kids event calendar that includes seasonal outreach for the wider community. Middle schoolers meet as WACC Junior High, and high schoolers meet as WACC High School, each with its own Instagram account and a parent email sign-up. The High School ministry page runs a recurring schedule under the WACCHSM banner.
Young Adults keep their own calendar and Instagram feed, while college-aged students fold into the same community. Sports ministry, run through sports.wacc.net, organizes league sign-ups throughout the year for kids and adults.
Grow Groups, Support Groups, and the rest of the week
Beyond Sunday, WACC runs a network of Grow Groups that meet in homes across the area - men's groups, women's groups, marriage groups, mixed groups, and Spanish-language groups - plus Support Groups that cover grief, divorce, recovery, and other pastoral needs. The church lists a Men's Ministry Survey as a starting point for men interested in joining a group, and a separate MOPS (MomCo) contact for mothers with young children.
Women, men, marriage, and senior adults
Adults ministry is structured by stage of life. Women meet under a WACC Women's banner with their own Instagram and Facebook pages, and men gather under a separate Men's Ministry with its own survey and leader contacts. Marriage ministry offers resources for couples at every stage, while Senior Adults maintain a dedicated Facebook and Instagram presence for gatherings and trips.
Going global and serving local
WACC supports Global Partners through its missions department, with dedicated giving links for global missions and short-term mission trips. Local outreach centers on the church's Go Serve Love fund, which funds food resources and direct neighborhood help. The church publishes a local food resources PDF, accepts an Amazon Wishlist for community needs, and routes prayer requests through a Google Form.
Care, counseling, and Access for special needs
The Care Ministry coordinates counseling referrals and a directory of Christian counselors across the surrounding cities, from Fullerton and Brea to Cerritos and West Covina. A separate Health Partnership program links members to vetted therapists and medical providers. Access, the church's special needs ministry, ensures that children, students, and adults with disabilities have a place in every program. WACC holds ECFA accreditation for financial accountability, a marker the church highlights on its giving page.
