About Trinity Alliance Church

A Family Church on Highway 299 East

Trinity Alliance Church gathers on a 30-acre campus along State Highway 299 East in Redding, California, where it has served northern Shasta County since the late 1990s. The congregation belongs to the Christian & Missionary Alliance, a family of churches that emphasizes the work of the Holy Spirit, the centrality of Scripture, and global outreach. Trinity Alliance is known for its warm, multi-generational atmosphere, its strong children's and youth programs, and a clear three-fold vision built around relying on God, journeying together, and engaging neighbors.

Sunday Mornings and Wednesday Nights

Worship services are held on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. in the main auditorium. The congregation describes the services as balanced, multi-generational and participatory, with music and teaching shaped for people of every age. Visitors are encouraged to come casual and comfortable, and coffee and tea are available in the fellowship hall before and after services.

Pre-service prayer takes place at 8:00 a.m. in the cafe, and an online prayer gathering meets at 3:00 p.m. The 3:00 p.m. livestream on YouTube also serves as a full online worship service for those who cannot attend in person.

On Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m., Collision Youth meets for its weekly youth group gathering.

Children's Ministry: Nursery Through Fifth Grade

The heart of the children's ministry at Trinity Alliance is to walk children from nursery age through fifth grade into a deeper relationship with Jesus. Parents drop nursery (ages 0-2) and preschool (ages 2-4) children off at the Children's Center, located just east of the auditorium, before services begin.

Kindergarten through high school students start in the auditorium with their parents and are dismissed about twenty minutes into the service to age-appropriate Sunday School classes. Teachers and leaders aim for a safe, comfortable, and fun classroom experience that helps children build friendships with one another while they grow closer to Christ.

Collision Youth

Collision Youth is the middle and high school ministry, gathering Sundays at 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. and Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. The group describes itself as the place "where our world meets our God," combining fun and friendship with biblical teaching. Students are equipped to engage their peers with the hope of the gospel in the everyday challenges they face.

Men's and Women's Ministry

The men's ministry centers on helping each man pursue a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ through life-on-life discipleship. Men meet with open hearts, encouraging and exhorting one another as they walk through life together, aspiring to give their lives to something bigger than themselves.

The women's ministry is open to all women eighteen and older, regardless of background or life stage. Its focus is on building friendships within the church, creating a place where women can be themselves, share their hopes, dreams, and struggles, and pray and celebrate with one another.

Worship Centered on Christ

The worship ministry exists first and foremost to seek and magnify the Lord. Musicians and singers aim for God-centered worship, following the call of Jesus to worship in spirit and in truth from John 4:23-24. Worship is described as centering heart, mind, and spirit on Christ, ascribing worth to Him as Savior and Lord, and exalting his name together.

Connection Groups

Connection Groups are the church's small-group ministry, designed to help people grow in authentic relationships with others who point them toward God. The groups meet the conviction that the Christian life is not meant to be walked alone, and they provide a regular, more intimate setting for prayer, study, and fellowship beyond Sunday services.

Relying, Journeying, and Engaging

The church's vision is summed up in three commitments. Relying on God centers on the power of the Holy Spirit, the Word, and prayer. Journeying together is about walking through life with the church family in honesty and humility. Engaging neighbors is the outward call to share the love of God in authentic and caring relationship.

The engaging commitment plays out locally through partnerships with organizations like the Good News Rescue Mission and Bella Vista School, where volunteers seek to build lasting relationships with the spiritually and physically needy in the community. Globally, Trinity Alliance supports Alliance missionaries and is working to develop long-term partnerships in regions with the least access to the gospel. Short-term mission teams are sent out annually as families and individuals serve alongside missionaries in the field.

What Trinity Alliance Believes

The church's beliefs and values center on six paired statements: that all humanity was created to enjoy an intimate love relationship with Jesus and with each other; that salvation brings full union with Christ rather than a process of getting closer to God; that God has uniquely made each person and calls them to a unique discipleship path; that God is communicating with His children and calls them to listen and respond; that relationship with Jesus demands relationship with His family; and that relationship with Jesus draws believers into reaching those who do not yet know Him.

The Statement of Faith is the classical Christian and Missionary Alliance statement, affirming one God in three persons, the deity and atoning work of Jesus Christ, the divine person and work of the Holy Spirit, the inerrancy of Scripture, salvation by grace through faith, the eventual return of Christ, and the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust. The church also teaches that the baptism in the Holy Spirit and progressive sanctification follow conversion, and that healing prayer and anointing with oil are privileges of the Church today.

Three Decades of Ministry in Redding

Trinity Alliance began in 1990 as a Sunday school class at Neighborhood Church of Redding. Its first worship service was held in March 1991 on a Saturday night at Neighborhood, after which the young congregation moved to Pacheco School in October 1991, then to Redding Adventist Academy in March 1994, before settling on its current 30-acre campus in May 2000.

Founding pastor Mark Swanson led the church for nearly twenty years with a strong emphasis on the Word of God. Pastor Dave Leppard was called in 2011 as a passionate visionary who pushed for deeper relationships and expanded facilities before his unexpected death in May 2016. Pastor Shawn Van De Mark was called as the third senior pastor in August 2017, and Pastor Bob Baker has served as associate pastor alongside all three lead pastors for more than twenty-five years.
