Shiloh Baptist Church has stood on South Garden Avenue in Hayward since 1968, a Christ-centered, Bible-based congregation that weaves worship, teaching, and neighborhood service into a steady weekly rhythm. The church's 2026 theme, "Shine, Shine, Shine," drawn from Matthew 5:16, captures a community that sees its faith as something meant to be lived out in plain view of the city around it.

Sunday is the heart of the week at Shiloh. The morning opens at 8:00 AM with Sunday School and a shared breakfast for all ages, a time when newcomers, longtime members, children, and seasoned believers gather around the table before gathering around the Word. At 9:00 AM the worship service begins, a spirit-filled gathering of praise, prayer, and preaching that runs to about 10:30. Members and guests are invited to come as they are; on the third Sunday of each month the dress is intentionally casual, and on the first Sunday the congregation shares in Communion. Children's Church is available on the second and third Sundays, and the third Sunday is also a quarterly Friends and Family Day, set aside for inviting others into the life of the church. The service can be joined in person or watched online.

Pastoral leadership is currently in the hands of Rev. Joseph Bryant, who serves as Interim Pastor. Bryant leads the congregation with a focus on spiritual growth and meaningful service to the community, and his Wednesday evening Pastor's Bible Study is one of the church's anchor teaching moments. The preaching rotation also brings guest preachers into the pulpit, with Rev. Timothy Amey recently delivering a sermon titled "There's A Blessing In Your Battle" from 2 Chronicles 20:15. Feeding the neighborhood every Monday

The Food Ministry is one of the most visible ways Shiloh serves the wider Hayward community. Each Monday at 10:00 AM, the church opens its doors for a weekly food giveaway for individuals and families facing food insecurity. The ministry is built on a simple promise: all are welcome, no judgment, just support, nourishment, and love for neighbors. The two-hour distribution runs to noon and is staffed by church volunteers committed to walking alongside the city's most vulnerable households.

Midweek study and prayer, gathered on Zoom

Bible teaching is woven through nearly every day of the week at Shiloh. On Tuesday afternoons, the Noonday Bible Study walks through Scripture chapter by chapter, a midday pause that meets on Zoom. Tuesday evening begins at 6:00 PM with the Tuesday Prayer Meeting, followed at 6:45 PM by the Evening Bible Study, both held on Zoom and open to anyone, whether new to faith or long walking with God. On Wednesday at 6:30 PM, Rev. Bryant leads the Pastor's Bible Study, with options to join in person or online.

The Mass Choir and a gospel musical tradition

Music is central to Shiloh's worship. The Mass Choir, led by Deacon Lewis Galloway, rehearses monthly on Saturday mornings at 9:30 AM and leads the congregation in powerful sung worship each Sunday. All voices, seasoned singers and newcomers alike, are invited to join. The choir's leadership team meets on Thursday evenings on Zoom to plan the annual Mass Choir Annual Day, a sign of how seriously the church takes both the craft and the calling of gospel music.

Praiser-Cise: faith and fitness together

One of Shiloh's most distinctive offerings is Praiser-Cise, a Saturday-morning aerobic workout that blends upbeat music, joyful movement, and praise. Led by Sis. Pam Lige, Praiser-Cise welcomes all fitness levels and invites participants to come as they are and move at their own pace, strengthening bodies while refreshing spirits. Sessions run from 10:00 to 11:00 AM and meet monthly on the church campus.

Sister's of Excellence and women's fellowship

Women of all ages are invited to a monthly gathering called the Sister's of Excellence Bible Study & Fellowship. Held on a Saturday morning at 9:15 AM, the meeting is a time of encouragement, prayer, and growing together in God's Word, a place to connect, be strengthened, and be refreshed in a supportive setting. All sisters are welcome.

The church office is open by appointment Monday through Saturday and from 8:00 AM to noon on Sundays. Worship can be joined in person at 22582 S.
