NewHeart Foursquare Church meets on a single stretch of Township Avenue in Simi Valley, California, where a Foursquare congregation has been welcoming neighbors since 1949. Sundays follow a steady rhythm. Families pull into the lot, kids disappear into Kids Church, and adults settle into a casual gathering shaped by worship and teaching from Pastors Brian and Rebecca Fox. Around that weekly hub the church runs a year-round web of small groups, a scouting-style adventure troop for boys, a women's ministry that fills tables each month, a men's fellowship built around food, and a drive-thru food pantry that has been feeding Simi Valley families for more than fifteen years.
The Sunday Gathering at 10am
The Sunday Gathering is the heart of the church's week and meets every Sunday at 10:00am indoors at 4200 Township Avenue, Simi Valley CA 93063. The service runs about an hour and fifteen minutes, and the atmosphere is intentionally easy-going. The church invites first-time guests to come as they are. Teaching is presented in an engaging style that people can take with them into the week, and a full Kids Church runs at the same time for children from birth through fifth grade.
Those who cannot be in the room can keep up with the messages through a sermon archive that is posted on the church's YouTube channel and distributed as a podcast on Apple Podcasts and by RSS. Pastor Brian Fox teaches most weeks; Pastor Kyle Roberts and guest speakers appear from time to time.
Kids Church for Birth through Fifth Grade
Kids Church meets every Sunday during the 10am gathering and is divided into three age groups. The Nursery and Toddler room cares for children from birth through age two in a loving, age-appropriate atmosphere where little ones experience the love of God through music, stories and simple activities. The Littles Class serves preschool through first grade with a play-based, chronological Bible curriculum that walks the children through God's big story and shows them that Jesus is its hero. The Elementary Class, for second through fifth grade, builds on that foundation with games, object lessons and discussion designed to help each child encounter God in a real and meaningful way.
Pastor Rebecca Fox writes the Elementary curriculum and serves as the Kids Pastor. Her aim is that every child who walks onto the campus hears the Good News of Jesus and has a chance to respond in faith, and that parents are equipped to keep discipling their children at home. In addition to Sunday mornings the team hosts a quarterly Kids Game Night and joins with the rest of the church for monthly Family Fun Sundays.
Remnant Youth for Middle and High Schoolers
Remnant Youth is the church's gathering for middle school and high school students from Simi Valley and meets every Thursday night from 7:00 to 8:30pm in Room 1 on the NewHeart campus. Each evening includes food, games, youth-led worship and relevant teaching about Jesus. The ministry's stated goal is to give young people an atmosphere where they can follow Jesus, grow in their faith and community, discover their purpose and learn how to make a difference with their lives.
Jake and Deanna Pedersen stepped in as Youth Directors in July 2026. Married since November 2025, they came on with hearts full of enthusiasm for helping students build real, lasting relationships with God and with one another. Their approach emphasizes that the teen years are a powerful season for faith formation and that every student should feel seen, valued and loved.
Grow Groups: Small Groups Around the City
The church describes its Grow Groups as the heart of what it does. A Grow Group is an intentional gathering of people who meet regularly to grow in their walk with Jesus, and the groups form around shared stages of life, common interests and areas where people want to grow. They meet once a week in homes and other locations all around Simi Valley, with the goal of providing the close, supportive relationships that the larger Sunday gathering cannot.
Grow Groups operate on a semester schedule so that people can find a fresh fit as life changes. The winter/spring semester runs February through May for sixteen weeks, the summer semester runs June and July for nine weeks, and the fall semester runs September through November for ten weeks. Fall groups are launched together around the same curriculum, beginning with the StoryFormed Way and ending with the first territory of Jesus' disciple-making.
JOYfull Women Around Tables
JOYfull Women meets on the second Saturday of each month from September through May, gathering in Room 1 at the church from 6:00 to 8:00pm. The format is built around tables: women share a meal together, conversation flows, and a time of worship and teaching follows. The current year's theme is Dwell, taken from Psalm 27:4, and is built around the difference between visiting God in convenient seasons and making His presence a permanent dwelling place.
Pastor Rebecca Fox serves as the Women's Pastor and oversees the ministry. In addition to the monthly Saturday meetings the team plans retreats, conferences and periodic get-togethers such as movie nights, game nights and day outings. Simi Valley MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) also meets at NewHeart as part of the women's ministry ecosystem.
Men's MEATup and Young Adults
Men's MEATup gathers on the second Sunday of each month from 11:45am to 1:30pm at the church. The format pairs good food with good company and is grounded in Proverbs 27:17: "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." The gathering is open to all men and is designed as a low-barrier way to build friendships and accountability.
Young Adults is a separate ministry for people roughly eighteen to twenty-eight years old. The group meets on the second and fourth Wednesday evenings of each month from 7:00 to 9:00pm at Pastor Fox's home. The stated aim is to give young adults a place to get connected and be encouraged in this season of life.
Sunday FUNday and the Courtyard
Once a month, on the fourth Sunday, the morning gathering is followed by Sunday FUNday at 11:30am. Tables fill the courtyard for a shared meal while the kids head for games and a bounce house. It is a relaxed time to get to know others, and the church regularly encourages members to invite a friend along.
Trail Life Simi Valley
Trail Life Simi Valley is the church's chartered Troop CA-2324 of Trail Life USA, a scouting-style adventure program for boys and their fathers. The troop was chartered in 2014 to bring the Trail Life vision to Simi Valley and the surrounding communities, and meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month from 6:30 to 8:00pm in the NewHeart worship center, running from September through May with additional summer outings.
Twice-monthly meetings have covered camping, fire safety, knife handling, knots, plant and rock identification, Dutch oven baking, bicycle maintenance and safety with archery equipment and firearms. The troop maintains TLSV.org, where families can find current schedules, registration and updates.
The NewHeart Food Pantry
The NewHeart Food Pantry has served the Simi Valley community for more than fifteen years and is part of the church's answer to Matthew 25:35: "For I was hungry and you gave me food." The pantry distributes both non-perishable items and fresh produce, vegetables and meat. It is set up as a drive-thru on Sundays at 11:30am while supplies last at 4200 Township Avenue. Guests are asked to park westbound along Township Avenue and wait for an attendant to usher them into the lot, and not to arrive before 11:30 unless they are attending the 10am gathering. First-time visitors are asked to fill out a short form so the team can serve them well.
Next Steps Growth Track
For those wanting to go deeper, Next Steps is a two-week class that walks through four steps: Follow, Grow, Discover and Make. The first two weeks cover the church's story, beliefs and the spiritual journey God has for each person. The second two weeks focus on discovering personal purpose and connecting that purpose to serving others on the church's Dream Team. Registration is not required, and people are welcome to just show up, but a form is available for those who want to let the church know they are coming or have questions.
What NewHeart Believes
As a member of the Foursquare family of churches, NewHeart holds to the Foursquare Declaration of Faith. The statement is organized in twenty-two articles that begin with the conviction that the Holy Bible is the Word of the living God, true, immutable and inspired, and that it is the only true ground of Christian fellowship and unity. The church affirms one true and living God in three Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, equal in every divine perfection and executing distinct but harmonious offices in redemption.
The statement goes on to affirm the fall of man, the plan of redemption accomplished through Christ's death on the cross, salvation by grace through faith, repentance and acceptance, the new birth and daily Christian life, the ordinances of water baptism and the Lord's Supper, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit-filled life, the gifts and fruit of the Spirit, Christian moderation, divine healing, the personal and imminent second coming of Christ, the duty of believers to identify with the visible church, the divine appointment of civil government, final judgement, the reality of heaven and hell, the central work of evangelism, and tithing and freewill offerings as the method ordained of God to sustain His ministry and the spread of the gospel.
The Story of NewHeart
NewHeart Church was founded in March of 1949 by Rev. Joseph T. Hall and his wife Ethel. They came to the Santa Susana Valley, now known as Simi Valley, with a vision to reach the area with the hope of Jesus Christ. A succession of pastors and faithful leaders sustained the work across the following decades, and on June 1, 2015 Pastors Brian and Rebecca Fox arrived as Lead Pastors. Building on the congregation's history, their vision has been to return to the fruitful disciple-making roots started by the Halls more than six decades ago and to make an eternal impact in the city and the surrounding region.
Pastoral Leadership
Pastors Brian and Rebecca Fox lead NewHeart together. Brian serves as the primary teaching pastor on Sundays and across the church's ministries, while Rebecca serves as Co-Pastor, Kids Pastor and Women's Pastor, writes the Kids Church curriculum and serves on the adult teaching team. Jake and Deanna Pedersen direct the Remnant Youth ministry. The church is served by a Dream Team of volunteers who welcome guests, work with children and youth, lead groups, run the food pantry and keep Sunday mornings running smoothly.

A Neighborhood Church in Simi Valley
What ties the ministries together is a focus on four marks of discipleship that the church returns to again and again: Follow Jesus, Grow in freedom, Discover God-given purpose, and Make a difference through serving on the Dream Team and in the world. On any given week that focus shows up in a classroom of toddlers learning about Jesus for the first time, a living room of young adults talking through life, a table of women laughing over dinner, a group of fathers teaching their sons to tie knots by firelight, and a line of cars pulling through the parking lot on Sunday morning to pick up groceries. It is the ordinary, week-in and week-out life of a Foursquare congregation on Township Avenue.
