A Pentecostal Home on West Mission Boulevard
Iglesia Ríos de Agua Viva sits on West Mission Boulevard in Pomona, in a building that also houses RAV Academy, the church's day school. The congregation, known to its members simply as RAV, began as a Spanish-speaking Pentecostal fellowship and has grown into a bilingual community. The church's name, "Rivers of Living Water," is drawn from John's gospel and signals the Pentecostal stream it belongs to; it is affiliated with the United Pentecostal Church International.
Sunday Celebrations in Spanish and English
Sunday is the heart of the week. Three Spanish-language services of celebration are held at 8:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 1:00 p.m., and a fourth service at 4:00 p.m. is conducted in English. The English gathering welcomes newcomers "no matter how you came in today" and keeps the same Pentecostal worship style: hands lifted, joy expressed openly, and times of quiet weeping in God's presence. The church believes that "God abides in the midst of the praise of His people," and worship is treated as the doorway through which the congregation encounters the power of God.
Friday Leadership and Saturday Prayer
Friday nights are set aside for leadership development. The Servicio de Liderazgo meets at 7:00 p.m. and gathers the leaders who guide the church's Grupos de Amistad across Pomona. Saturday mornings, from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., the building opens for an in-person prayer service. For those who rise even earlier, the sanctuary is also open Tuesday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. for Oración por las Mañanas, an early hour of intercession before the work day begins.
Grupos de Amistad: Twelve Districts, Two Areas
What the church calls Grupos de Amistad is its small-group network, organized into twelve districts that fall under two areas. Area 1 covers Districts 1 through 4 plus 11 and 12, with district leaders including Arturo Cabrera, Israel Garcia, and Diego Bonilla. Area 2, directed by Martin V., covers Districts 5 through 10 under leaders such as Luis Garcia, Alfredo Torres, and Francisco Espinoza. Each group meets in a home during the week in a "friendly, family environment," shares coffee, and works through a topic tied to everyday life. The stated purpose of these groups is to grow in relationship with God, grow in relationship with one another, and multiply to reach the city.
RAV Academy: A School Inside the Building
The same building that holds the sanctuary also houses RAV Academy, a primary school serving kindergarten through sixth grade. Classes run Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuition is $100 plus $350 per month. The teaching staff includes Mrs. Perez and Mrs. Terrones in kindergarten, Mrs. Rivera in first grade, Mrs. Morales in second and third grades, and Mrs. Montenegro in fourth through sixth. Joanna Oseguera serves as vice principal, and Joshua Oseguera, the church's Pastor Principal, is listed as part of the academy staff as well.
Pastoral Cita: Walking Through Life Together
Members and visitors who want to speak with a pastor can request a Cita Pastoral through a form. The pastoral team addresses family matters, marriage, pre-marital counsel, finances, youth, dating, doctrinal questions, congregational issues, emotional and physical health, addictions, and temptations or weaknesses. Those who prefer can simply call the church office at (909) 397-0581. The office is closed on Mondays, open Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Fridays from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Books, Livestreams, and Giving
Pastor Mario Oseguera, the founder of the work, has a line of titles available through Amazon. His books sit alongside the church's regular worship life. Services are livestreamed on YouTube under En Vivo, and recordings of praise music are organized into two YouTube playlists: Alabanzas de Júbilo and Alabanzas de Adoración. The English-speaking congregation is present on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok under the handle @ravenglish, with a Linktree hub that gathers the church's links.
Giving is handled three ways. The church uses the Givelify app, accepts checks mailed or dropped into the mail slot at the church during office hours, and takes contributions over the phone Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The church quotes 2 Corinthians 9:7, that "God loves the cheerful giver," and emphasizes that no one is pressed to give.
