A Community in Goodlettsville Learning to Love, Serve, and Lead
GoodNaz Church sits on Loretta Drive in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, a short drive north of Nashville. The congregation is part of the Church of the Nazarene and has shaped its identity around a simple motto: Love. Serve. Lead. Lead Pastor Brad Bellomy and the staff describe the church as "a community learning to love God, serve one another, and lead by example." Visitors are welcomed into a building that hosts two Sunday morning services in English, a Spanish-speaking service on Sunday afternoons, a busy Wednesday night program for every age, and a Mother's Day Out preschool that runs through the school year.
Sunday Mornings: Connect Groups and Worship
The Sunday schedule begins at 9:00 AM with Connect Groups for every age, from nursery through senior adults. At 10:00 AM the congregation gathers for a worship service that lasts about an hour and includes uplifting music and a practical, Bible-centered sermon. Dress is comfortable whether you arrive in jeans or in a suit. Coffee is available before the service, and families with children are encouraged to use the front entrance where valet parking makes drop-off easier. Parking is available in front of and behind the building, and first-time families should plan to arrive fifteen to twenty minutes early if they need to check in children or want a cup of coffee. A five-minute countdown leads into the service. The 10:00 AM worship service is also livestreamed on YouTube, so those who cannot attend in person can watch live or catch up later.
Wednesday Nights: A Full Building
By Wednesday evening, the building opens up again for a wide range of programs. Adults can join choir practice, Bible studies, or classes. Middle and high school students meet from 6:00 to 7:30 PM for games, a student-led worship band, and small-group discussion, with open gym from 5:30 to 6:00 PM. Elementary children enjoy lessons and games designed for their age, while infants and preschoolers play and learn in safe, supervised rooms. A young adult Bible study meets at 6:30 PM in the church café, and a men's Bible study gathers at the same hour. The Wednesday night rhythm is one of the defining features of the church, and the ministries page notes that students in particular "learn and grow together in discussion groups" while getting to know the people God has placed in their lives.
Children, Students, and Young Adults
GoodNaz invests heavily in its next generation. Nursery and preschool classes, led by Ashley Michael, divide children from birth through kindergarten into age-appropriate rooms every Sunday and Wednesday. There, children hear Bible stories, make crafts, and play in centers designed to introduce them to the love of God. The elementary program, called GoodNaz Kids and led by Emily Vaughn, partners with families of first through fifth graders so children feel valued, loved, and able to grow as fully devoted followers of Christ. Middle and high school students are shepherded by Joe Witosky and Bryan Duncan; in addition to Wednesday nights, they meet on Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM for Connect Groups. College students and young adults are led by Shelley Oliver and meet on Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM, with a Wednesday evening Bible study at 6:30 PM in the café and special events throughout the year.
A Spanish-Speaking Service on Sunday Afternoons
In addition to its English-language morning services, GoodNaz is a bilingual church. Each Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, Pastors Selvin and Darybell Garcia lead a Spanish-speaking service in the same building. The Hispanic ministry is fully integrated into the life of the church, offering a worshiping community for Spanish-speaking families in Goodlettsville and the surrounding area.
Men's, Women's, and Senior Adult Ministries
Adults of every stage of life have a way to belong at GoodNaz. The men's ministry, led by Shane Vaughn, focuses on four activities: a Wednesday night Bible study at 6:30 PM, community service projects, helping with chair setup, and partnering with Room in the Inn to shelter neighbors without housing. The women's ministry, led by Kim Cooper, is described as an arm of the church that intentionally provides biblically sound encouragement and spiritually driven growth opportunities for all women. Senior adults stay connected through senior adult Connect Groups that emphasize relationships, ministry involvement, service projects, and continued growth in Christ.
What GoodNaz Believes
GoodNaz's statement of faith begins with Jesus Christ. The church teaches that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, and that only through Him can a person have a relationship with God. The church believes in the full deity of the Holy Spirit, who lives in every Christian from salvation, gives spiritual gifts, and empowers daily life. The Bible, in its sixty-six books, is received as God's Word and the supreme authority for truth and life. Salvation is understood as God's free gift, received by turning from self-rule and trusting in Jesus Christ, with eternal life beginning the moment a person receives Christ by faith. The church also teaches that salvation initiates a process of sanctification in which the Holy Spirit transforms believers into the image of Christ.
The church practices two ordinances. Communion is a memorial supper instituted by Jesus, declarative of His sacrificial death, and open to those who have faith in Christ and love for the saints. Baptism is a sacrament commanded by the Lord, signifying acceptance of the benefits of Christ's atonement and administered as a symbol of new life in Jesus. GoodNaz also affirms the resurrection of the dead, a future judgment, and eternal life with God.
Mother's Day Out and the Indoor Playground
GoodNaz operates a Mother's Day Out program that supports Christian parents with young children. For the 2026-2027 school year the program offers two separate tracks: Mondays and Wednesdays, or Tuesdays and Wednesdays, each running from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM from August through May. The MDO follows the Sumner County School calendar for holidays, weather closings, and other breaks. Tuition is $200 per month with a $100 nonrefundable registration fee. The preschool is led by Emily Vaughn, who also oversees the elementary ministry.
The MDO building includes an indoor playground that doubles as a community resource. Each Friday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 AM the playground is open for community play, with a waiver required for each child. On weekends the playground can be reserved as part of a party rental. Parties run two hours, with the first on the playground and the second in a party room, and are available Friday evenings, three Saturday time slots, and Sunday afternoons for children eleven and under. The rental includes a staff attendant and costs $225, with a discount for those who attend GoodNaz.
The Pastoral Team
GoodNaz is led by a team of pastors and ministry directors. Brad Bellomy serves as Lead Pastor, Caitlin Tyler as Executive Pastor, and Emily Duncan as Worship Pastor. Shelley Oliver leads the young adult ministry, Joe Witosky serves as Youth Pastor, and Bryan Duncan directs the high school ministry. Emily Vaughn leads the elementary ministry and the Mother's Day Out program, while Ashley Michael directs the preschool and MDO. Selvin and Darybell Garcia pastor the Hispanic congregation, and Eric Cornell serves as Media Director. The staff is rounded out by ministry leaders for men's, women's, and senior adult ministries.
