A Cornerstone at 13th and Main
First Baptist Church Collinsville has stood at the corner of 13th and Main in the Tulsa County town of Collinsville, Oklahoma, since the year it was established and incorporated by the State of Oklahoma in 1908. The original wood-frame building served the congregation for more than half a century until it was removed in 1964. Eight years later, in 1972, the present sanctuary was built on the very same lot, so worshipers who walk through the doors today are standing on the ground where the first Collinsville Baptists first gathered more than a century ago.
The current property has grown well beyond the original footprint. Across the parking lot from the 1972 sanctuary stands the Impact Center, a second large worship and ministry space that gives the church room for two very different Sunday morning services, a busy Wednesday-night schedule, classrooms, and a full children and student ministry. A two-story Education Building, accessed by elevator or stairwell through the Impact Center, houses the kids' ministries, and behind the Impact Center sits the Carty Youth Center on the corner of 14th and Center. The combined layout lets a single congregation offer everything from a Sunday morning choir anthem to a midweek youth small group under one roof.
Two Services, One Mission: Make Much of Jesus
First Baptist Collinsville runs two Sunday morning worship services that share a single purpose. The church's motto is simple: Make Much of Jesus. The arrow that runs through the church's logo is meant to point people toward Christ, and the matching arrows on the banner inside the Impact Center point outward, a visual reminder that the church is to look upward while reaching outward into Collinsville.
The earlier gathering is called Classic Worship. It begins at 9 a.m. in the Sanctuary and leans on the church's heritage of hymn singing. The choir joins this service in its later portion, lifting up the traditional anthems and cantatas that have long been a hallmark of Southern Baptist worship. Members who grew up in churches with pews, hymnals, and a choir loft tend to feel right at home in this gathering.
At 11 a.m., the doors of the Impact Center open for Impact Worship, a contemporary service led by a full band. The same commitment to Christ-centered worship is expressed in a different musical language, with newer songs, amplified instruments, and a more relaxed feel. Both services run alongside each other so that families and friends who prefer different styles can meet for lunch afterward.
Sunday School for Every Age
Between the two services, at 10 a.m., the church opens its Sunday morning small groups, the program most longtime Baptists still call Sunday School. FBC Collinsville offers classes from preschool age on up to the most senior adults, with the goal of getting every member into a smaller community where the Bible can be taught and relationships can be built. For visitors, arriving at 9 or 11 for worship and stepping into a class at 10 is the easiest way to meet people in the same stage of life.
Growing Up at FBC: Preschool, Kids, and Students
Children's ministry is one of the busiest parts of the church. The Preschool Ministry serves kids from birth through Kindergarten, with Sunday School classes at 9:45 a.m. and an extended session that runs through the main worship services. Parents who drop their children off at the Preschool wing can attend either the Classic or Impact service knowing their kids are being cared for.
Impact Kids, the ministry for older elementary children, teaches two core lessons: how to study Scripture and how to live as Kids on Mission, telling others about Christ in everyday settings. Sunday School meets at 9:45 a.m. and Kid's Midweek meets on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. All kids activities take place on the second floor of the Education Building, reached by the Impact Center elevator or stairwell, and parents can register online for Kid's Midweek through the church's Connect Card and registration pages.
First Students is the name of the middle and high school ministry, with the goal of helping young people develop deeper relationships with leaders and peers and to walk closer to the Lord Jesus Christ. Sunday School meets at 10 a.m. and Midweek runs Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Carty Youth Center, with additional events like Super Summer, Falls Creek, and Kids Camp on the church's annual calendar. Alongside these programs runs Impact Kids Mother's Day Out, a Tuesday and Thursday program that has grown to nearly sixty children across the church's buildings. The Choir and the Sound of Worship
The Celebration Choir leads worship in the 11 a.m. Impact service each Sunday and rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The choir presents special music throughout the year, including cantatas and full musicals, and is open to anyone willing to commit to the weekly rehearsal schedule. Wednesday Nights at the Impact Center
Wednesday is one of the liveliest nights of the week at First Baptist Collinsville. The evening opens at 4 p.m. in Room 106 of the Impact Center with the Women's Intercessory Prayer Group, a forty-five minute gathering devoted to praying for revival in the community, the state, and the nation. At 5 p.m., the Wednesday Fellowship Meal fills the tables of the Impact Center with a home-cooked menu; the cost is four dollars a person for ages five and up, with reservations taken through the church office.
While families eat, the building prepares for two parallel programs. Kids' Midweek for elementary children starts at 5:30 p.m., and Student Midweek for middle and high schoolers runs in the Carty Youth Center from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. At 6:30 p.m. the Celebration Choir gathers for rehearsal, wrapping up the night at 8 p.m. The result is a true one-stop evening: dinner, a lesson, music, and prayer, all within walking distance of one another.
Senior Adults, Sisters, and the Wider Family
The Senior Adult Ministry gives the church's older members plenty of reasons to keep showing up. Big E Night happens on the fourth Thursday of every month, and the group takes regular trips together, with recent getaways to Branson and a foliage sightseeing tour through Northwest Arkansas.
Women's ministry touches every age and stage. The women's group hosts a Nativity Festival each December, where members share their nativity sets, and a Ladies Bunco Night that doubles as a fundraiser, often collecting donations for the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Postage. Women's Bible studies, prayer gatherings, and fellowship events run throughout the year, and the women's ministry also helps coordinate funeral meals for grieving families, a tradition that has long been part of small-town Baptist life.
Other weekly offerings bring different groups together. Jumping Jacks and Jills is a low-impact exercise class for adults of any age, meeting Mondays and Fridays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Impact Center. The Open Art Class meets every Thursday morning at 10 a.m. and welcomes painters, crafters, and anyone looking for fellowship; the church supplies all materials.
Reaching Out in Collinsville
Outreach at FBC Collinsville is woven into the calendar rather than walled off in a separate program. Each fall, the church participates in Operation Christmas Child, distributing two hundred plastic shoeboxes with prepaid shipping labels and asking members to fill them for boys or girls in the 2 to 4, 5 to 9, or 10 to 14 age ranges. A table set up by the church's Sewing Bees adds handmade items, and a group of ladies is glad to shop for anyone who would rather give cash.
Members support the Oklahoma State Missions Offering each September with a church goal of $4,000 toward the state goal of $1.3 million. Deacon Benevolence and the Mission on Main Fund, both administered through the church's deacons, direct giving to neighbors in need. Through the year, members bring individually wrapped candy for a community Trunk or Treat, gather for Operation Christmas Child, and lend a hand for funeral meals and security teams on Sunday mornings. Members are also encouraged to support the church with time and talents; building use requests go through the church office, with a small custodial fee that covers setup of tables and chairs.
What FBC Believes
First Baptist Collinsville identifies as a Southern Baptist church and is affiliated at the national level with the Southern Baptist Convention, at the state level with Oklahoma Baptists, and locally with the Tulsa Metro Baptist Network. The church holds to the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) and teaches the historic Baptist articles of faith, beginning with the full trustworthiness and divine inspiration of Scripture.
The church confesses one living and true God, infinite in holiness and perfections, who reveals Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It teaches that man was created in God's image, that sin entered the race through human free choice, and that salvation comes only through personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Salvation is understood as regeneration, justification, sanctification, and ultimately glorification, with the security of the believer resting on the finished work of Christ.
FBC practices believer's baptism by immersion as a prerequisite for church membership and the Lord's Supper, observing both ordinances regularly. It teaches that the church is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, governed by its members under the Lordship of Christ with pastors and deacons as its scriptural officers. On questions of family, religious liberty, peace and war, stewardship, and cooperation among churches, the church follows the Baptist Faith and Message as adopted in 2000.
The Staff Behind the Ministries
The pastoral team is led by Senior Pastor Dr. Tim Prock, who has served First Baptist Collinsville since January 2005. A graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University, Southwestern Seminary, and Southern Seminary, he and his wife Lori have three grown sons and three grandsons.
John Lincks serves as Worship Arts Pastor and joined the staff in 2009 after thirty-nine years of ministry in the Tulsa region. A graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University and a Certified Piano Technician, he has also served as president of the Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma. Joey Zodrow, Groups and Worship Pastor, joined the staff in January 2015 and brings more than two decades of vocational ministry to his role. A graduate of Oklahoma State University, he oversees groups ministry along with worship.
Daniel Prock joined First Baptist in August 2018 as Families Pastor, with a focus on helping families, especially those with young children, come to faith in Christ and become committed to the local church. A graduate of Northeastern State University and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, he works closely with the children's and student ministries. Angela Pitts directs the Preschool Ministry and Mother's Day Out, and Erin Williams leads the Mother's Day Out program day to day.
