Family Worship Center sits along Troxel Road in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, just minutes from the Towamencin and Lansdale line in Montgomery County. The non-denominational church has been gathering in this neighborhood since January 15, 1984, and today draws a friendly, working-class crowd of stay-at-home parents, truck drivers, teachers, nurses, carpenters, engineers and lawyers who come to learn about Christ, build new friendships and grow in their faith together. The recurring line tucked into the church's own worship songs sums up the tone: "If it's not good, then it's not the gospel."
Sunday in Three Movements
Sunday at Family Worship Center is built around three back-to-back gatherings. Sunday School starts at 9:00 AM with classes for every age group, including adult electives, grade-level rooms for elementary and middle-schoolers, and teen discipleship upstairs in Room 203.
The main service begins at 10:00 AM in the sanctuary. Worship, prayer and Bible teaching carry the morning, with nursery care and Kid's Church running at the same time for children from infants through sixth grade. A Spanish-language service also begins at 10:00 AM in the same building.
At 7:00 PM, the Sunday Night gathering fills the same building with a more laid-back atmosphere. Fellowship replaces formal structure, and childcare is intentionally not offered so parents can take a break.
Wednesday Night at 7:00 PM
Mid-week programming runs from 7:00 to 8:00 PM and is designed so the whole family can be on site at the same time. Adults gather for Bible study, teens meet for youth group in the Student Ministries room, and the building fills with kids' ministries: nursery for the littlest, Girls Club, and Royal Rangers Outpost #234 for the boys.
Kids' Ministry
Children are a central focus at Family Worship Center, and Kids' Ministry Director Hannah Randall coordinates a team of 65 volunteers who serve infants through sixth graders. The stated goal is simple: for kids to want to come to church.
On Sundays, programming begins at 9:00 AM with age-appropriate Sunday School classes. Infants and younger toddlers meet in Room C101, older toddlers in Room C103, first-through-third graders in Room C205, and fourth-through-sixth graders in Room C203. During the 10:00 AM service, nursery care runs in Room C107 for infants through age three, Rainbows (preschool) meets in Room C106, and Kid's Church gathers grades one through six in the Kids' Chapel with worship, prayer, games, small groups and connecting activities. Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM add preschool and grade-school programming with hands-on Bible teaching.
Royal Rangers Outpost #234
The boys of Family Worship Center belong to Royal Rangers Outpost #234, a Christ-centered, cross-generational discipleship program that places this outpost in the top 10% nationally. Under Senior Commander Fred Moyer and a team of adult leaders, boys from kindergarten through high school gather on Wednesday evenings for hands-on activities that lead them toward Christlike manhood. The program is intentionally Spirit-empowered, connecting boys with what Royal Rangers describes as the source of the Spirit-filled life through a unique Pentecostal experience. A parallel Girls Club meets on Wednesday nights.
Student Ministries (Grades 7-12)
Student Ministries is led by Youth Pastors Isabella and Emmanuel Cuffee, joined by several adult leaders who create a spirit-led environment for teens. Sunday School meets every Sunday at 9:00 AM in Room 203 on the second floor behind the stage, and youth group meets every Wednesday night at 7:00 PM in the Youth/Spanish Ministry Room. Beyond the weekly rhythm, students gather for movie outings, bowling nights, an annual Christmas Party with a White Elephant Gift Exchange, and a summer Youth Camp.
Iglesia Hispana
Family Worship Center is bilingual. A Spanish-language service begins at 10:00 AM every Sunday alongside the English service, and a separate Spanish Bible study meets on Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM. Spanish Pastor Sammy Pinilla oversees the work, and the Student Ministries room serves as the Spanish Ministry gathering space on Wednesdays. The ministry is known as Iglesia Hispana.
Women's Ministry
The Women's Ministry is led by Heather Damiani, who also directs Girls Club for younger girls. A team of women plans gatherings around connection, warmth, worship, prayer and a relaxed atmosphere. Highlights include the annual Women's Luncheon each May in honor of Mother's Day, the Overcomer Women's Retreat, and seasonal activities such as the summer Soak and Swim fitness and book-discussion series. Past luncheons have featured guest speakers like Mary Clayton sharing spirit-filled messages from her own life.
Men's Ministry
Men gather on the third Saturday of every month for a Men's Breakfast at 8:00 AM in the church gym. Chef Nadhir prepares a breakfast buffet, and one of the men shares an inspiring word. There is no cost to attend; a free-will offering is received.
Worship and Music
Worship is led by Worship Director Becky Alderfer and Worship Leader and Head Sound Tech Ben Randall. The team released a four-song EP called "Good News," with lyrics written out of the church family's experiences over several years. The songs, "Good News," "Listen," "Let Your Spirit Flow," and "God of Mysteries," lean into themes of love, truth, the gospel's simplicity, and a hunger for the Holy Spirit. The EP is available on iTunes, Spotify and YouTube, and services are livestreamed on the church's Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Family Worship Center Preschool & Daycare
The church runs a Preschool & Daycare at the same 1000 Troxel Road address, directed by Emmanuel Cuffee with Assistant Director Tish Olivieri. Programs serve infants, toddlers (one to three years) and preschoolers (ages three to five) in a Montessori-inspired environment with low child-to-teacher ratios. Weekly specials include chapel and Bible reading, Spanish lessons from a fluent teacher, and monthly visits from a therapy dog. The facility includes a full-sized gym and three playgrounds, and the building sits about 150 feet from the Towamencin Township Police Department and 250 yards from the fire station, which the church points to as a safety advantage. The center accepts ELRC and Child Care Works subsidized payments and offers military and pastoral discounts.
Summer Camp
Family Worship Center Summer Camp runs for ten weeks each summer for children who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade. Days run Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and blend Bible lessons, outdoor games, field trips, arts and crafts, and team challenges. A full-size school bus has been added to expand off-campus adventures. Tuition is $259 per week, with a discounted full-summer rate and ELRC payments accepted. Camp Director Emmanuel Cuffee and Summer Camp Instructor Jezz Davis lead the program.
A Founding Story and a New Season
Family Worship Center opened its doors on January 15, 1984, the fulfillment of a calling that began in the heart of Pastor JR Damiani some twenty-five years earlier during his music evangelism days with the Eastmen Quartet. JR and his wife Beverly built the church as a center for worship and the Word. In January 2020, founding Pastor JR Damiani passed the role of Lead Pastor to his son, David Damiani, who has felt a calling to spiritually equip believers since the age of 18. David's thirty-year journey to the pastorate included many life experiences that, though unconventional, prepared him to lead the church through a lead-pastor transition, a global pandemic, the death of his father and into the present season of Family Worship Center. David and his wife Heather now serve together.
Beliefs and Approach
Family Worship Center describes itself as a fellowship of believers doing life together. Pastors preach and teach the Bible, and the church emphasizes the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer, visible in the Pentecostal heritage of Royal Rangers and in the worship team's lyrics asking for the Spirit to "send Your holy fire" and "let Your glory fall." The recurring line from the church's own EP, "If it's not good, then it's not the gospel," expresses the conviction that the Christian message stands on grace and freedom rather than on rules or pride.
