A Bible Church on Pinecrest Drive in Marshall
Cypress Valley Bible Church meets at 4190 West Pinecrest Drive on the west side of Marshall, Texas, and the church describes its simple purpose plainly: to help people grow in their relationship with God. Sunday mornings bring two identical services at 9:30 and 11:00 am, and the building stays busy the rest of the week with classes for kids, teens, college-age adults, and grown-ups, mid-week recovery, and weekly observance of the Lord's Supper. The church is non-denominational and works from a detailed doctrinal statement built around the authority of Scripture.
Two Sunday Services, Both Family-Friendly
Sunday mornings at Cypress Valley are designed to feel relaxed. The dress code is casual, with jeans and t-shirts as common as button-downs and dresses. There are no offering plates passed during services, and there is no reserved seating. Music is encouraging and contemporary, and Bible teaching is presented in a way the church says is meant to be relevant to everyday life. Quality nursery care is available during both services, and dedicated children's and student ministries run at the same hours so that the whole family can be on site at once.
The morning worship services are the anchor of the week, but they are not the only Sunday gathering. After the second service, the church shares the Lord's Supper at 12:30 pm. Students in 6th through 12th grade meet separately for Student Life at 9:30 am and then walk into the main service together at 11:00. A growing college-age ministry called Undefined meets from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday evenings.
Three Worlds for Kids: Tot Town, Kidz City, and Kidz Life
Children have their own carefully designed environments, led by Jena Busby as Director of Children's Ministry.
Tot Town serves babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. Vanessa Winters directs this space, which uses crafts, games, Bible stories, music, and an indoor playground built for little ones. The church's philosophy is that it is never too early to share the love of Jesus with a child.
Kidz City is for kindergarten through fifth grade and runs during both Sunday services. Kids take an age-appropriate journey through the Bible, with worship through music, small group time, and play on a large indoor playground.
Kidz Life takes place on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, September through April. The evening includes worship, puppet friends, indoor and outdoor play, a free dinner, a visit to the Kidz Store, and Bible teaching designed for K through 5th graders.
Student Life and Going Deeper for Teens
Teenagers in sixth through twelfth grade have their own world at Cypress Valley, directed by Rorie Patton as Director of Student Ministries. The student center is described as a 10,000 square-foot fun center, and the building includes a student coffee shop called LIFEBUCKS that serves frappes and smoothies.
Student Life meets Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30. Doors open at 9:15, and the morning includes a free breakfast, time with friends, worship, games, and a Bible lesson. After the lesson, students break into small groups to talk through how the teaching applies to their daily lives. At the end of small group time, the whole group walks together into the 11:00 am worship service.
Going Deeper is the Wednesday night program, also from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, September through April. It features games, crazy dances, food and drinks for sale at Cafe LIFE, worship, and a Bible lesson that goes deeper than the Sunday morning teaching.
Undefined: A New Space for College-Age Adults
Undefined is Cypress Valley's newest ministry, designed for 18 to 25-year-olds whether they are in college, working, or figuring out their next move. The Sunday evening gathering runs from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and centers on live worship, free food, big laughs, Bible-based small groups, and what the church describes as a community that gets you.
Sunday Morning Groups for Every Season of Adult Life
Russ Perry serves as Director of Adult Ministries and oversees a network of Sunday morning groups designed so that every adult can find a place to connect. Groups meet at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 to align with the worship services.
At 8:00 am, Empty Nesters meet in room 203 and mixed or general groups meet in rooms 101 and 201. At 9:30 am, Young Families gather in room 101, mixed groups meet in room 202 and the Fellowship Hall, and Moms meet in the parlor. At 11:00 am, Young Families meet in room 202, Empty Nesters meet in rooms 101 and 203, and a Women's group meets as well. The church's mid-week adult groups are available for those wanting an additional touchpoint during the week.
Mid-Week Recovery and the Weekly Lord's Supper
Cypress Valley hosts Celebrate Recovery on Thursdays at 5:30 pm, a Christ-centered recovery program for those working through hurts, habits, and hang-ups.
The Lord's Supper is observed twice a week, on Sundays at 12:30 pm and Tuesdays at 6:30 pm. The church teaches that the Lord's Supper is the only church meeting prescribed and described in the New Testament and that it belongs at the center of gathered Christian life, alongside the apostles' teaching, fellowship, and prayer.
What Cypress Valley Believes
Cypress Valley's doctrinal statement is built on the conviction that the Bible is God's written Word, inspired and inerrant in the original manuscripts, and is the unique, full, and final authority on all matters on which it speaks.
The church affirms one true God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each fully God. The Lord Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, born of a virgin, sinlessly perfect, crucified as a substitute for sinners, raised bodily from the dead, and ascended to the Father's right hand, where He now intercedes. He will return to rapture His church and establish His millennial kingdom on earth.
On salvation, the church teaches that eternal life is received by faith alone in Christ alone. Water baptism by immersion is required to become a disciple but is not required for eternal life. Local churches are led by elders who meet biblical qualifications, and their purpose is to develop dedicated disciples.
The church also teaches eternal security: those who trust in Christ alone cannot lose their salvation. Good works are not necessary for assurance of eternal life but should flow from gratitude and the Holy Spirit's work in the believer.
Reaching Out from Marshall to the World
Cypress Valley takes seriously the call to make disciples of all nations through praying, giving, and sending. The church currently supports several missions partners financially and in prayer.
Locally, Cypress Valley partners with Mission Marshall (2109 S. Washington Ave.), a faith-based ministry that partners with the East Texas Food Bank to provide groceries, fresh produce, meat, and other essentials to those facing hunger. Cypress Valley volunteer teams serve at Mission Marshall twice a month, typically on a Tuesday or Wednesday, in morning and afternoon shifts. Roles include helping clients shop for groceries, bagging items, and stocking food lines. Anyone in the church family or their friends can join, and no special experience is required.
Other partners include Acres of Mercy, which supports schools, community outreach, Bible studies, and church leader conferences in Kenya; New Life Moldova, which trains followers of Jesus to build spiritual movements; the Pastoral Training Institute of Nicaragua, which provides biblical training for pastors in Central America; the Marshall Pregnancy Resource Center; and the Grace Evangelical Society, which promotes the truth that eternal life is a free gift received by faith in Christ.
What to Expect on Your First Visit
Cypress Valley works hard to make first-time guests feel at ease. The parking lot is large, with easy access to the main entrance, and volunteers greet visitors at the doors. Inside, there is no reserved seating, so guests can sit wherever they are comfortable. People dress casually, and the music and teaching are meant to be encouraging rather than performative.
Families with children can check in quickly and securely. Tot Town welcomes babies through preschoolers, Kidz City is set up for kindergarten through fifth grade, and middle and high schoolers have their own student ministry space. Every volunteer who works with children is trained, and the spaces are designed to be both safe and engaging.
Sermons can be watched or replayed online through the church's YouTube channel and podcast, and giving is available through PayPal, text-to-give at 903.274.4866, or automatic bank transfer. The newsletter keeps subscribers up to date on the schedule and upcoming events. Questions can be sent to support@cypressvalley.org or through the church's Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube pages.
