Crossroads Church stands as one of the largest Southern Baptist congregations in the Coweta County, Georgia, area, drawing worshipers from Newnan, Sharpsburg, Brooks, and Chattahoochee Hills each weekend. From a small gathering that began in an elementary school cafeteria in 1989, the church has grown into a four-campus community with a deep investment in small groups, children and youth ministry, a special-needs program called Unlimited, a coffee shop that fuels missions, recreation leagues across the county, and short-term mission trips that reach more than a dozen countries.

From White Oak School to Four Campuses

Crossroads Church began on March 26, 1989, as a church plant of Palmetto Baptist Church, the Fairburn Baptist Association, and the Georgia Baptist Convention. Its very first worship service was held at White Oak Elementary School. Ken Adams was called as pastor shortly after the start of the church and has continued to serve as lead pastor. For three years the congregation met in different schools before purchasing twenty acres on Highway 154 and building its first permanent building. From that single property on the east side of Newnan, Crossroads has multiplied into four locations serving different corners of the county and beyond.

Four Gatherings Across Coweta and Fayette

Worship is at the center of life at Crossroads, and the church gives its attenders several options across the week. The original Sharpsburg Campus, located at 3260 GA-16 in Sharpsburg, hosts the largest schedule: a Saturday evening gathering at 6:00 PM with live preaching, two Sunday morning gatherings at 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM with live preaching, and a Sunday morning Studio 3 acoustic gathering at 9:00 AM featuring a streamed message and acoustic worship. The Thomas Crossroads Campus at 2564 GA-154 in Newnan, the church's original and mailing address, meets on Sundays at 10:00 AM with live preaching. The Whitewater Campus in Brooks meets on Sundays at 9:00 AM and 10:45 AM with streamed messages and contemporary acoustic worship, and the Chattahoochee Hills Campus at 8400 Sardis Road meets Sundays at 11:00 AM in a soft-launch stage that anticipates a full grand opening in 2026.

Every service at every campus lasts about 75 minutes and includes contemporary worship music and a biblical message intended to be practical for everyday life. From the moment a guest drives onto a campus, volunteers are there to greet them and help them find their way. First-time guests are invited to stop at a welcome table, and children's check-in is available 15 minutes before each gathering. Dress runs the full range from sandals and shorts to ties and dresses, and the same casual dress code holds true at every location.

The Great Commission and the M7 Disciple

Crossroads describes its calling in a single sentence: "We exist to be and build disciples." The church points to Matthew 28:19 as the foundation of its mission, taking Jesus' words to "go and make disciples of all nations" as the framing for everything it does. To put shape around that calling, Crossroads teaches what it calls the M7 marks of a disciple. A fully trained disciple is a Member of Christ's Church both universally and locally, a Magnifier who lives a lifestyle of public and private worship, Maturing in faith, a Minister who serves others with gifts and abilities, a Manager who handles money, time, relationships, and body for God's glory, a Messenger who shares Christ, and a Multiplier who reproduces more disciples.

Those values flow into the church's wider culture. Crossroads describes itself as culturally relevant, relationship-centered, organized for growth, dependent on small groups, led by spiritually qualified people, governed by prayer, faith, and the Holy Spirit, committed to helping people discover their gifts and passions, and rooted in scriptural authority.

What Crossroads Believes

As a member congregation of the Southern Baptist Convention that cooperates with the Cooperative Program, Crossroads holds to the historic Baptist convictions about Scripture and salvation. The Bible is described as God's Word, written under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit and free from error. God exists eternally in three co-equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the sacrifice for sin, rose again, ascended to heaven, and will return as King of Kings. The Holy Spirit lives within every believer from the moment of salvation, providing power for living, understanding of truth, and guidance for daily life. Humanity is made in God's image but is marred by sin and separated from God. Salvation is a gift received by faith in Jesus Christ alone, not by self-improvement or works. Eternity is real: those who trust Christ spend forever with God, and those who reject Him are separated from Him forever.

Crossroads Kids: From Nursery Through Elementary

Crossroads Kids is a dedicated ministry for children from birth through fifth grade, organized into Nursery, Preschool, and Elementary environments with a separate staff team for each campus. The nursery offers a warm, loving setting where babies are cared for and introduced to God and to other children. Parents can schedule a nursery tour in advance, and families with new babies are encouraged to contact the preschool or nursery team so the child's record can be updated and so the family can be celebrated with a gift. Preschool and Elementary services run alongside adult services each weekend, with classrooms opening 15 minutes before the gathering.

Elementary ministry at Crossroads Kids uses the Brite curriculum, and every lesson is built around the 3-Bs: a child can BELONG to God and His kingdom, BELIEVE in Jesus as Savior and Lord, and BECOME like Him by walking in the power of the Holy Spirit. Each lesson includes a large-group time with music, drama, video, and a creative Bible story, followed by a small-group time where kids apply what they learned. All adult volunteers are screened with background checks, and every classroom is staffed with at least two volunteers.

The church also offers a Dedicate class for new parents who want to present their child to the Lord and commit to raising them in the Christian faith. Dedication celebrations are held three times a year and require attendance at a Dedicate class. Parents are invited to wait until their child is old enough to make a personal decision for Christ before being baptized, and Crossroads Kids offers a separate baptism class and video for children led by Children's Director Chante Crowder.

Unlimited: A Place for Every Family

Crossroads is known in the region for its Unlimited Special Needs Ministry, which serves families affected by disability. Unlimited offers an adaptable worship experience designed so that children with special needs and their parents can both enjoy a meaningful Sunday. All Unlimited volunteers are required to pass a background check, and families are asked to contact the ministry ahead of a first visit so the team can prepare appropriately.

Unlimited meets during the 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM Sunday gatherings at the Sharpsburg Campus and during the 10:00 AM gathering at the Thomas Crossroads Campus, with check-in opening 15 minutes before each service. At Sharpsburg, families can choose between Typical Studios with high-energy worship and small-group breakouts, Sensory Studio 5 with adapted FirstLook and 252 Kids curriculum and reduced stimulation, or a blend of the two. At Thomas Crossroads, a Typical Room and a Sensory Corner serve the same purpose. Unlimited also extends to youth and young adults with high-functioning special needs, meeting on Wednesday nights from 6:45 PM to 8:15 PM at the Thomas Crossroads Campus for community, worship, Bible teaching, and activities. A separate Unlimited Parent Small Group meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month during the same time, with sibling childcare provided for children from birth through fifth grade. Director Deanna Mitchell oversees the ministry and welcomes questions from interested families.

Youth and Young Adults

Crossroads Youth serves middle school and high school students through weekly Wednesday gatherings at the Thomas Crossroads Campus. Middle school students meet in the Hangar from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, and high school students meet in the Worship Center from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. The goal is for students to grow as fully trained disciples who live boldly for Christ. Middle school students also break into small groups during the Wednesday gathering for community and Bible teaching, while high school students gather in small groups in host homes throughout Coweta County on Sunday evenings from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, following the Coweta County School System calendar. Pastor Jesse Norton leads the youth ministry, and Dominic Jacques leads middle school ministry.

Crossroads Young Adults, or YA, is designed for anyone ages 18 to 30 who is unmarried. YA meets every Sunday night at the Sharpsburg Campus in Studio 3, with doors opening at 6:30 PM and the large group starting at 7:00 PM. The evening includes hangout time, worship, teaching, and optional small groups for those who want to dig deeper into the message. YA is intentionally low-pressure: no church background is required, and the dress code is whatever a person would normally wear to meet friends for coffee. A separate Singles 30+ ministry is also available for older singles.

Small Groups at the Heart of the Church

Crossroads calls itself a "small group church, not just a church with small groups." The conviction is that church leadership and life are best done in the context of relationships, and small groups are the primary vehicle for that at Crossroads. Three types of small groups are offered.

Community Groups are open groups designed for connection, encouragement, and spiritual growth. The easiest way to join one is to attend Midweek Groups on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM at the Sharpsburg and Thomas Crossroads campuses, where a pastor or host will help newcomers find a group. Community Groups meet throughout the week on campus and in host homes and are organized for couples, co-ed groups, men, women, and young adults.

Impact Discipleship Groups are closed groups that walk through the Impact curriculum together, holding one another accountable to grow in the character and conduct of Christ. Impact Groups are launched periodically throughout the year. Support Groups meet on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM at the Thomas Crossroads Campus and are co-ed, men's, and women's groups that offer care, recovery, and encouragement.

Men's groups meet on Tuesdays at 6:45 PM in Studio 3 at the Sharpsburg Campus and on Thursdays at 7:00 AM in the Worship Center at the Thomas Crossroads Campus. Women's Bible studies meet on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM in the Sharpsburg Worship Center and on Wednesdays at 9:30 AM in Studio 3 at Sharpsburg, with childcare available at both. A Wednesday night option at the Chattahoochee Hills Campus and a Friday morning option at the Whitewater Campus extend the women's ministry across the county. Midweek Groups run on a fall-to-spring schedule that aligns with the Coweta County School System calendar.

CARE, Counseling, and Support Groups

The CARE and Counseling ministry at Crossroads offers Christ-centered spiritual and emotional support for members, attenders, and the wider local community. Individual counseling is available for adults, students, and children by appointment through the counseling office at 678-854-9300 or counseling@crossroadsnewnan.org. A long list of support groups meets on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM at the Thomas Crossroads Campus. Most groups are free, led by trained volunteers, available all year, and open to anyone in the community. Free childcare is available through age 12.

Groups offered for adults include Anger Management for Men and Anger Management for Women (each a 12-week course), Caregiver Support, Chemical Dependency, DivorceCare, First Place 4 Health, GriefShare, a Loving Well group for parents of LGBTQ+ children that meets on the second Tuesday of each month, Men's Depression and Anxiety, Men's Sexual Addiction (pre-screening required), PTSD, Relationship Trauma for Women, Survivors of Suicide on the second Monday of each month, and Women's Depression and Anxiety. Children and students have their own groups, including Confident Kids for elementary students and Student Support groups for middle school and high school. Many of these groups have been accepted in court-mandated cases.

Community Impact Across Coweta County

Crossroads operates a broad Community Impact ministry designed to meet physical, emotional, and spiritual needs in Coweta County. The Crossroads Food Pantry, located at the Thomas Crossroads Campus, distributes food and toiletry items in a shopping-style atmosphere by appointment on Mondays from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM. The pantry maintains a wish list of items including canned fruit, canned meats, canned vegetables, cereal, peanut butter, pasta, rice, soup, and toiletries, and donations can also be made through the church's Amazon wish list.

The ReNew Thrift Store offers affordable clothing and home accessories and channels its proceeds into local ministry projects and investments. The ACTS Team provides handyman help, including basic home repairs and yard work, for people who cannot afford or physically manage the work themselves. A community garden supplies fresh vegetables to local food banks. Community Investment grants have supported school playground funds, a school mural fund, and the payoff of school lunch account balances. Crossroads Weekday Preschool, known as CWP, is a faith-based preschool for children ages six weeks through PreK-4 that operates during the school calendar year.

Fostering Hope is the church's foster care ministry. Care Teams of five to seven volunteers walk alongside foster families with monthly meals, occasional childcare, mentoring, and tutoring. The church notes that more than half of new foster families quit within their first year, but with practical support like this, more than 99 percent continue to provide loving, stable homes. The School Ministry encourages and supports Coweta County teachers and staff, while the First Responders Ministry offers prayer, encouragement, and support to firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMTs, and paramedics. Crossroads also partners with Truth in Nature, an organization that mentors middle and high school boys from fatherless and single-parent homes through outdoor experiences and Christian discipleship.

Impact Cafe: Coffee That Funds the Mission

One of the more distinctive features of Crossroads is Impact Cafe, a coffee shop whose profits support global missions and disciple-making. The cafe operates three locations: Sharpsburg at 6675 GA-16, Newnan on the Thomas Crossroads Campus, and Fayetteville at 455 Church Street, Suite B. Hours vary by location but generally span mornings, with the Newnan location open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to noon and Sunday mornings before services, the Sharpsburg location open Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings, and the Fayetteville location open Monday through Saturday. The cafe has its own Instagram presence and is staffed in part through the church's Outreach team.

Recreation: Sports Across the County

Crossroads Recreation offers year-round athletics for children and adults, with facilities located at the Thomas Crossroads Campus in Newnan. Youth leagues include soccer for ages PreK-4 through 12th grade, flag football and cheerleading for kindergarten through 12th grade, basketball for ages PreK-4 through 12th grade, and baseball for ages PreK-4 through 12th grade. Each sport includes a weekly devotion at practice, one practice per week, weekly games, and an end-of-season celebration. Summer sports camps in flag football, soccer, and basketball are hosted at the Thomas Crossroads Campus.

Adults can join Adult Pickleball on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and Thursday evenings in the Hangar at the Thomas Crossroads Campus, Adult Softball on Sunday afternoons at the on-campus ball fields from August through November, the Run and Walk Club for a 12-week couch-to-5K with weekly devotions, and Community Indoor Basketball on Sunday and Monday nights with two separate pace groups. The recreation ministry also hosts an annual 5K Trail Run on the Sharpsburg Campus trail each fall and the Spring Swing Golf Tournament at a local course each spring, with both events benefiting local ministries.

Global Impact and Church Planting

Crossroads takes the Acts 1:8 vision of being witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth seriously through its Global Impact ministry. The church supports missionaries around the world and partners with strategic agencies including the Georgia Baptist Convention, the Western Baptist Association, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Coweta, the Georgia Baptist Children's Home, Josiah Venture, New Churches Now, and Lottie Moon. A full slate of short-term mission trips goes out each year.

Recent and upcoming trips have included English-teaching trips to Macedonia, Montenegro, Cambodia, Albania, and the Dominican Republic; a church-plant outreach in Chicago; a construction and outreach trip to Brazil; a Vacation Bible School partnership in Montana; a Hands of Hope build trip to Guatemala; a medical trip to Romania; a sports camp in Italy; a 4th of July Rodeo community service trip in Montana; a family camp in Japan with Glow Ministries; and a Zambia trip serving a global church and orphanage. The church also operates a Church Planting Network that supports domestic plants in Douglasville, Jefferson, South Fulton, Cartersville, Ellijay, Monroe, Carrollton, Atlanta, Bluffton (South Carolina), and Staten Island (New York), along with international plants in India, Brazil, Cambodia, the Republic of Georgia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania, Pakistan, Serbia, and Guatemala.

Joining the Crossroads Family

Crossroads outlines five steps on the spiritual journey it calls Next Steps: salvation, baptism, membership in a local church, commitment to a small group, and service on a ministry team. The church offers a baptism class, available in person or online, that explains why baptism by immersion is important and how to take that step. Children have their own baptism process led by Children's Director Chante Crowder, who can be contacted before completing the baptism registration.

Membership is open to those who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, have been baptized by immersion, are committed to a small group, are in agreement with Crossroads' vision and values, are in alignment with the church's structure, are active and involved in church life, and have completed the membership class or watched the online membership class. A Next Steps Class is offered at each campus to help newcomers discover the church's vision and find their place. Campus pastors are available to talk through the next step, and a Next Steps booklet, M7 Journal, and a sermon explaining the journal are available online for those who want to work through the material at home.
