A Cell-Church Movement on the South Side of Houston
Clearpoint Church meets along the eastbound service road of the Sam Houston Parkway in Pasadena, just south of Houston, in a single campus where a contemporary Sunday gathering flows out of small groups meeting all week across the Greater-Houston area. The congregation describes itself as a cell-church movement, meaning that group life - not the weekend service - is treated as the front door of ministry. Sunday is the celebration; the real work happens in circles of three to fifteen people scattered through neighborhoods, workplaces, and homes.
The motto on the front of the church is simple: Loving God. Loving People. The longer mission statement spells out the same heartbeat - to lead people to love God and love people, and to reach the unchurched and see them transformed into fully devoted disciples of Christ through a cell-church movement in the Greater-Houston area and beyond.
Sunday Mornings at 10
Services are held every Sunday at 10:00 AM and are also broadcast live online so anyone in Houston, in another city, or on the road can join in. The live stream is available on the church's main site, on Facebook, and on YouTube, and the team invites online viewers to leave a hello in the comments.
On campus, the service is shaped by energetic contemporary worship music and a practical, Bible-based message. The worship team - Clearpoint Worship - frames the gathering as a moment when the church family unites to lead one another toward God, with songs chosen to turn attention back to Jesus, who the church teaches sits at the right hand of the Father. After the message, visitors are invited to drop a filled-out Connection Card into an offering box so the church can follow up, pray for any requests, and help with next steps.
What a First-Time Visitor Finds
The church keeps its first-time guest experience unpretentious. There is no dress code - come in whatever is comfortable. The main lot has open parking, and a handful of visitor spots are reserved close to the front doors. Just inside, an information center staffed by volunteers answers questions and points guests in the right direction.
Children from birth through fifth grade are cared for in Clearpoint Kids, with a check-in area located just inside the front doors. Junior high and high school students (sixth through twelfth grade) sit with their families during the Sunday service; their own gathering happens on Wednesday nights.
Clearpoint Kids: Birth Through Fifth Grade
Children's ministry is treated as a long-term investment rather than childcare. The team works from Matthew 19:14 - Let the little children come to me - and aims to plant faith during the years when kids are naturally curious and open. The ministry is led by Children's Ministry Director Glenda Spence, who has more than two decades of experience in children's ministry and is supported by Assistant Director LeChelle Smith.
Programming is built around consistent, age-divided small groups so each child is known by a leader. Environments are designed to be engaging for different ages and learning styles, and activities, games, and prayer times are used to help kids apply Bible stories, memory verses, and lessons to daily life. The four guiding goals are to help children discover who God is, learn and apply Scripture, understand why they need a relationship with Jesus and how to begin one, and build faith skills and godly character that will carry into youth ministry and beyond.
Refuge: Students in Sixth Through Twelfth Grade
On Wednesday nights at 6:45 PM, the church's student ministry takes over the Refuge Room. Known as Refuge, the gathering pulls in students from grades six through twelve for an evening of worship, teaching, small groups, and games. The mission of Refuge mirrors the larger church: to reach unchurched students and see them transformed into fully devoted disciples of Christ.
The student ministry is led by Maverick Garcia and Kelly Garcia, and Wednesday worship is led by the same Clearpoint Worship team that serves on Sundays, with a more energetic, expressive flavor. Refuge worship also doubles as a training ground for younger worship leaders to grow into future teams. A Family of Worship Leaders
Worship Pastor Danny Castaneda leads Clearpoint Worship as a family rather than a roster. The team includes singers and musicians of different ages and experience levels, and it is structured to intentionally bring up new leaders from within. The team's stated goals are to lead the church family in unity, create a genuine spiritual encounter with God rather than only an emotional moment, build a diverse and sustainable team, and unify the wider body across the community.
The Sunday and Wednesday worship gatherings share the same aim - to lead people to the throne of God - but Wednesday nights lean into a more expressive, joyful style with jumping, dancing, and shouted praise. Life Groups and the Equip Pathway
Life Groups are the backbone of Clearpoint's cell-church model. Groups of three to fifteen people commit to connecting to Christ, building authentic community, and being sent as people of faith, love, and hope into their own networks. The church teaches that group life is the full expression of the church, not a side program, and that the Sunday gathering is a celebration of the ministry already happening in groups around the city.
For those wanting to grow deeper, the Equip pathway walks members through several steps: a Kickstart class that introduces the church's mission and partnership; Growth Track, which offers mentorship; Equipping Classes held on Sunday evenings; Discovery Weekend, which helps people explore identity, personality, spiritual gifts, and five-fold purpose; and Love Movement, a journey that trains everyday people to follow Jesus intentionally, love the people God has placed in their lives, and live on mission.
Men and Women
The Men's Gathering meets on the first Saturday of every other month at 8:00 AM in the church cafe for breakfast, Bible study, and connection. The men describe their mission as being transformed into fully devoted disciples and committed to encouraging one another in authentic, biblical community. A separate Women's ministry is part of the church's ongoing programming, connecting women around the same heartbeat of discipleship and community.
Clearpoint Beyond: Lima and San Francisco
Clearpoint's missions ministry, called Clearpoint Beyond, supports two church-planting families serving far outside Pasadena. Jason and Joanna Wollbrink serve in Lima, Peru, and Jake and Hali Woodfin serve in San Francisco, California. Both couples are partnered with the church for prayer, communication, and giving, with dedicated giving links available for anyone who wants to support their work.
What Clearpoint Believes
The church's statement of faith centers on the historic doctrines of evangelical Christianity: that the Old and New Testaments are the verbally inspired, infallible Word of God; that there is one true God who exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; that Jesus Christ is the virgin-born, sinless, miraculously active, crucified, resurrected, and exalted Son; and that humanity fell through the disobedience of Adam and Eve and is separated from God by sin.
Salvation is found through faith in Jesus Christ alone, who died on the cross in place of sinners and rose again. The internal evidence of salvation is the witness of the Holy Spirit; the external evidence is the fruit of the Spirit and a transformed life. Baptism by immersion is taught as a public profession of faith that follows conversion, and the Lord's Supper is observed as a memorial of Christ's death.
The church teaches that the local church is the body of Christ with a three-fold purpose: to evangelize, to worship, and to equip believers for ministry. The gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit are encouraged, gifts are to be exercised in love and order, and there will be a final judgment in which every person is rewarded or punished according to their works and their relationship with Christ.
Pastoring a Movement
The church is led by Lead Pastors Brian and Heather Lambert. Brian and Heather moved their family to the Houston area in 2008 to relaunch and pastor Clearpoint Church, after fourteen years in pastoral ministry elsewhere. They teach that the work of ministry belongs to every believer and that the pastor's job is to equip and release the body to do it.
Heather Lambert later founded Clearhope Counseling & Wellness Center, a separate counseling ministry that grew from her background as a high school Spanish teacher, school counselor, and administrator. The center now serves five school districts and thousands of students and families across six Greater-Houston locations, but it operates independently of the church.
Alongside the Lamberts, the staff team includes Worship Pastor Danny Castaneda, Media Director Kayla Castaneda, Children's Ministry Director Glenda Spence and Assistant Director LeChelle Smith, Student Ministry leaders Maverick Garcia and Kelly Garcia, and a Ministry Leadership Team of couples who shape the direction of the church. Together they keep the focus on the same prayer that has shaped the Lamberts' ministry for more than two decades: that God would bless their lives, enlarge their territory, keep them from evil, and let His hand be with them as they lead people in Pasadena, across Houston, and around the world to love God and love people.
