A Lutheran Congregation on Balcombe Road

All Saints Lutheran Church sits on Balcombe Road in the southern part of Orlando, a stretch of Orange County where residential subdivisions, palm trees, and small storefronts trade places with one another. The congregation is small but busy, and its ministry reaches well beyond the sanctuary walls. Sunday Worship at 9:00 a.m.

The main service gathers each Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. at 12601 Balcombe Road. The service runs about an hour and is followed by a fellowship time that newcomers are warmly invited to stay for. Each week a bulletin is posted online so worshippers can follow along at home, and the service is livestreamed on YouTube, with an archive of previous services kept on the same channel for anyone who wants to revisit a sermon or catch up after a missed Sunday.

A midweek Bible study meets on Thursday nights over Zoom with Pastor Brian. A Campus That Hosts Many Churches

All Saints describes itself as a "church incubator." The Balcombe Road property is rented out to new and small congregations at rates well below what they would pay elsewhere, so they can focus on ministry instead of carrying a mortgage. Several have been on site for years; others have grown and moved on to their own buildings when the time was right.

On any given Sunday the campus hosts worshippers from several language and style traditions. A Spanish-speaking congregation, a French-speaking group, and a Haitian congregation all meet there, alongside services that range from traditional and liturgical to contemporary and blended. The All Saints leadership is straightforward about the reasoning: "What is important is that God is being praised and given the glory in wonderfully unique ways."

A Christian-based preschool also operates on the campus, serving working parents in the area, and an Alcoholics Anonymous group meets there as well. Together these make the property a steady hub of weekday and weekend activity.

The Food Pantry: Eight Hundred Neighbors a Month

The most visible ministry outside the sanctuary is the Second Harvest Food Pantry, which opens its doors every other Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. Anyone in the community who could use a helping hand is welcome. There is no requirement to be a member of All Saints, and the pantry serves people from across south Orlando and beyond.

The pantry runs on private financial donations and a long-running partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. Food and supplies also come in from Publix, Panera Bread, Wild Fork, and LongHorn Steakhouse. Volunteers pack bags and hand them out on Saturday mornings, and the operation now serves roughly eight hundred people each month.

The pantry goes beyond its own distribution room. All Saints partners with four local schools to stock their on-site food pantries, and that food is given to children who are homeless during school breaks, when school meals are not available. The framing is clear-eyed: "We are praying for the day when we will no longer be needed. Until then, we pray that God will continue to bless us so we may meet this urgent need."

Youth, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School

Children and youth are woven into the life of the church. Sunday School runs during the school year, with online registration available for parents who want to sign up. The program is designed to be family-friendly, and registration is open ahead of each new school year.

Each summer the church hosts a week-long Vacation Bible School. Recent summers have centered on a theme called "Adventure Island" with the tagline "Seeking God's Great Light," complete with songs, dances, Bible stories, daily crafts, and a recurring host character named Beacon. During the pandemic the program moved online, with livestreamed content, downloadable worksheets, and craft videos families could follow at home, a format the church has kept available even as in-person gatherings resumed.

Worship and Music: Choir, Chimes, and Instruments

Music is a regular part of Sunday worship at All Saints, and there are several ways for musicians to take part. The church has a chime group and a choir, and welcomes instrumentalists who want to play during services. Sue, the Church Council President, is a longtime member who is involved in nearly everything that happens on campus, from helping manage the food pantry to running property work days to stepping in when something around the church breaks.

Putting Faith Into Action: Volunteers and the Time and Talent Survey

All Saints asks every member of the congregation, including youth, to fill out a Time and Talent Survey. The idea is simple: every person has been given gifts by God, and the church needs those gifts to function. The survey covers ministry areas from reading scripture during services to packing food bags at the pantry, and members can offer to serve as often or as rarely as their season of life allows, whether that means reading once a year or showing up every other Saturday.

Volunteers are the backbone of the food pantry and a great deal of what happens on campus. The leadership is direct about why: "It is fantastic to see people willing to share their time and talents so others may be blessed. The volunteers are great examples of what life looks like when faith and love are combined and put into action."
