Where People and Jesus Come Together
On the north end of Main Street in North Salt Lake, Utah, Abundant Life Assembly of God has set up home at 410 North Main Street. The congregation's tagline, "Where PEOPLE and JESUS come together," captures the welcoming posture that runs through every part of the church. Lead Pastor Alex Lucero extends the invitation himself: "There is nothing more important in life than experiencing an authentic connection with God. That is why everyone is welcome at our church and we hope you feel at home here."
Affiliated with the Assemblies of God, the church is part of a Pentecostal family committed to the Lord in worship, to one another in friendship and discipleship, and to the surrounding community in outreach and compassion.
Sunday Mornings at 10 AM
Abundant Life keeps its Sunday rhythm deliberately simple. One gathering meets every week at 10:00 AM, both in person at the North Main Street campus and online via livestream on YouTube. Worship Director Jorge Roman shapes a contemporary, Spirit-led service that has long been a hallmark of Pentecostal congregations.
Visitors are encouraged to arrive 15 to 20 minutes early so that a Hospitality Team member can greet them, answer questions, and help them find their seats. Many stop first at the Cornerstone Café, the in-house coffee shop, for a drink and a pastry before the service begins. The morning moves through congregational worship, prayer, and biblical preaching, often led by Pastor Lucero, with space to respond at the close.
Abundant Life Kids and the Sunday Nursery
Children are woven into Sunday morning rather than separated from it. Abundant Life Kids, led by Children's Pastor Anna Pavlova and her team, gathers kindergarteners through sixth graders during the 10 AM service for lessons, games, and what the church describes as "great friendships." It is one of the first stops families make after crossing the threshold.
For the youngest members of the family, the Abundant Life Nursery, led by Donna Lucero and a team of volunteers, welcomes newborns through kindergartners in a space the church describes as "safe, healthy, and fun." The children's ministry maintains its own Facebook and Instagram presence so that families can keep up with what is happening week to week.
Wednesday Nights: Abundant Life Student Ministries
Middle and high schoolers have their own gathering on a different night of the week. Abundant Life Student Ministries meets Wednesdays at 7:30 PM, with the Snack Shack opening at 7:00 PM for students who arrive hungry. The program is open to students in grades 7 through 12 and centers on three values the youth team calls Belong, Believe, and Become.
Youth Pastor Jeremie Hartrup describes the ministry this way: "Abundant Life Student Ministries is a community that loves and accepts every student just as Christ loves and accepts us. The Bible is preached with integrity with the intent of leading students to a clear understanding of God's salvation through His son Jesus Christ." The year rounds out with a youth camp each June, a Fine Arts festival in March, monthly "Warped Wednesday" gatherings on the last Wednesday of each month, and Connect Groups scheduled throughout the semester. A missions trip is also on the calendar.
Men's Breakfast and Women's Table Talk
Beyond Sunday and Wednesday, the church maintains two monthly rhythms for adults. The Men's Ministry, led by Cory Sandberg, meets the second Saturday of every month at 9:00 AM for a Men's Breakfast, gathering men around food and fellowship. Additional men's events run throughout the year.
The women's ministry gathers around Table Talk, a time of coffee, snacks, and Bible conversation.
Connect Groups: Free-Market Community
The church's small-group ministry is built around what it calls Connect Groups, and the model is intentionally open-ended. "Our groups are free market, which means we want people to gather together based on things they enjoy and are important to them," the church explains. "Essentially, the things you are already doing in your life are the things that can make up your Connect Group."
That means groups form around sports, lunch, parenting, students, Bible study, and creative arts, or anything that reflects the interests of the people already in the church. Prospective leaders attend a Connect Group Leadership Training held before each semester, and the church welcomes anyone curious about hosting a group to come even before they have decided to lead one. Signing up is handled through an online form.
Water Baptism by Immersion
Abundant Life practices water baptism by full immersion, following the formula Jesus gave in Matthew 28:19. Pastors emphasize that baptism is not a step for joining Abundant Life specifically but "an outward expression of what Jesus has done in you," a public testimony to the saving work of Christ in a believer's life.
Baptism services are typically held on Sunday afternoons at the conclusion of the morning service, with several dates scheduled throughout the year. Anyone interested can sign up online and choose the date that works best for them.
Beliefs Rooted in the Sixteen Fundamental Truths
As an Assemblies of God congregation, Abundant Life holds to the fellowship's 16 Fundamental Truths. The church's beliefs page highlights four of them as central to its teaching. Salvation is described as God's victory over sin, with deliverance, healing, and restored lives flowing from the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Divine healing is taught as "an integral part of the gospel," provided for in Christ's atoning work and the privilege of all believers. Baptism in the Holy Spirit is described as the church's "distinctive," the source of the power behind its witness and just as relevant today as when the early believers first received it. The Second Coming is held up as an imminent hope for a world facing natural disasters and uncertainty.
Missions: 51 Missionaries and Counting
Missions is woven into the identity of Abundant Life. The church currently supports 51 missionaries worldwide and frames its involvement around three commitments: praying for missionaries, financially supporting them, and going on short-term trips. The missions team writes, "Our passion is to reach the lost with the truth of Jesus and to ease the suffering of those who need Him."
Funding for that missionary team flows through Faith Promises, voluntary commitments between an individual and God that can be revised at any time. New and renewing Faith Promises can be submitted online, and anyone interested in serving on a future trip can reach the missions team by email.
The Pastoral Team
Alex and Donna Lucero serve as Lead Pastors of Abundant Life Church. Jorge Roman leads congregational worship as Worship Director. Anna Pavlova oversees the children's ministry as Children's Pastor. Cory Sandberg leads the Men's Ministry, and Jeremie Hartrup pastors Abundant Life Student Ministries as Youth Pastor. Together they form the church's pastoral team.
Worship Online, Giving, and the Church App
For those who can't make it to North Main Street on Sunday, the service is livestreamed on the church's YouTube channel at 10 AM, and recent series including Pieces, Change, and studies through the Gospel of John remain available for later viewing. Giving is handled through a secure online portal, with options for one-time gifts, recurring monthly tithes, and contributions to specific causes. A mobile app, available through Subsplash, keeps sermons, events, and announcements within reach throughout the week, and prayer requests can be submitted online for the prayer team.
